Vrana won the Cup with the Capitals in 2018.
ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals put pen to paper and officially signed forward Jakub Vrana.
Vrana has inked a one-year, one-way contract worth the league minimum of $775,000 to reunite with the team that made him a first-round pick in 2014. He is part of the team's opening night roster, which D.C. announced on Tuesday.
Vrana was on a professional tryout through Capitals training camp and impressed over the course of the preseason, putting up a goal and assist, as well as 11 shots, through three games. It was enough to win him a spot as the team's extra forward going into the year as he beat out Andrew Cristall and Ivan Miroshnichenko to make the team.
"Just being able to be back in the league and on top of everything, it's this organization and this team, it's great, man," Vrana said. "It's great to be back here. It's a commitment, it's dedication. You got to stay constant with your work, and so far, I've been solid with that."
