ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got a welcome sight on Wednesday, as T.J. Oshie took the ice before practice for some individual work in a non-contact jersey.
Oshie was in a power blue jersey as he skated ahead of practice in a non-contact, powder-blue uniform as he continues to recover from an upper-body injury he suffered on Nov. 24. He stayed on and joined the team for the start of its practice, too.
He took things slow to start, getting his legs back under him, shooting pucks and catching up wtih his teammates.
The 36-year-old then ramped up a bit, participating in some drills ahead of practices with his fellow teammates. He was in high spirits and showing energy, a positive sign as he works his way back.
Later on, he worked on tips and deflections.
Oshie remains on the injured reserve and missed the Capitals' five-game road swing out west after he was hurt in the team's 5-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Oshie was entering the offensive zone when he collided with Mattias Ekholm, leaving him down on the ice before he was helped off by athletic trainer Jason Serbus.
It is unclear what the injury is or what Oshie's timetable is. He remains on the injured reserve.
