The Capitals winger earned All-Star accolades for the second time in three seasons.

WASHINGTON — Tom Wilson is Toronto-bound, as the Washington Capitals winger will be heading to the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend and representing his team among the league's top players.
It marks Wilson's second career NHL All-Star appearance and his second selection in three seasons. He had replaced Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin at the festivities back in 2022 in Las Vegas, attending the games with Evgeny Kuznetsov.
Ovechkin, who went to the All-Star Game last season and is tied for the team lead in scoring with Dylan Strome, did not earn a selection after 13 in his storied 19-year career.
In 36 games this season, Wilson has put up 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points, and he is on pace for 43 points. The 29-year-old, who signed a seven-year extension with Washinton in August, also ranks seventh in the NHL in hits (107) and leads D.C. in penalties drawn (19).
Wilson was also named one of Washington's alternate captains this season, stepping in for Nicklas Backstrom, who is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the game.
Back in 2022, Wilson participated in the All-Star Weekend, hitting 100 miles per hour in the hardest shot competition and also scoring a goal in the 3-on-3 tournament. He also earned boos from the fans in Vegas but insisted that he enjoyed the passion for the sport while saying it was good for the game.
His goal in the tournament, which came just 13 seconds into the first game, goes down as the fastest scored in NHL All-Star Game history.
Washington can still have another representative make it through the NHL All-Star fan vote.
