(Geoff Burke — Imagn Images) ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals are sticking with the pieces they have. Washington has pumped the brakes on their moves with the NHL Trade Deadline hitting at 3 p.m. on Friday. The Capitals' lone move on deadline day was acquiring Anthony Beauvillier from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for their 2025 second-round pick. He brings forward depth and replaces Jakub Vrana, who was claimed off waivers by the Nashville Predators on Thursday. Beauvillier has appeared in 63 games with Pittsburgh this season, playing top-6 minutes while picking up 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points. dThe 27-year-old still has potential and is known for his creativity, hockey IQ, quick hands and smooth skating ability, and he's also a versatile, reliable forward who works hard at both ends of the ice. All that he needs to work on now is his consistency, and what better coach to try and unlock that than Spencer Carbery. There were rumblings that Washington was potentially looking for an upgrade at third-line center but will stick with Lars Eller down the stretch. Beauvillier's acquisition helps bolster the team's offensive depth, but the team will also look forward to another addition come April, as Ryan Leonard is expected to make the pro jump after his sophomore season with Boston College comes to an end. While it wasn't a busy deadline, the team is happy to maintain its chemistry that has contributed a great deal to its success this season. Still, D.C. is welcoming Beauvillier with open arms. "There's something to be said about our team chemistry. We've had all year to build up our chemistry," Dylan Strome said Friday, adding, "This group is pretty good at adjusting to new faces pretty quickly." General manager Chris Patrick will speak to the media at 5:30 p.m. to explain the team's approach to the deadline, why it was relatively quiet and more on the team.
