The Washington Capitals' four-game road swing hasn't gone according to plan, but they'll have one last chance to right the ship and head home with points as they take on the Dallas Stars to close things out before the All-Star Break.

Here's everything to know before puck drop at 2 p.m. ET at American Airlines Center.

Washington Capitals Line Combinations

With the Capitals unable to get the offense going on a lackluster road trip so far, the forward lines will see some forward tweaks.

The defensive pairings also get a shakeup after struggles against the Avalanche. Ethan Bear will draw out as the healthy scratch, while Trevor van Riemsdyk will draw back in, per head coach Spencer Carbery.

Here are the lines:

Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Tom Wilson

Aliaksei Protas-Connor McMichael-T.J. Oshie

Max Pacioretty-Evgeny Kuznetsov-Anthony Mantha

Beck Malenstyn-Nic Dowd-Nicolas Aube-Kubel

Martin Fehervary-John Carlson

Rasmus Sandin-Trevor van Riemsdyk

Joel Edmundson-Nick Jensen

Charlie Lindgren will get the start.

Washington Capitals Injury Report

Sonny Milano remains out of the lineup for the 23rd consecutive game as he deals with an upper-body injury that appeared to happen on Dec. 9 following a hit from Jacob Trouba.

Head coach Spencer Carbery said there haven't been any setbacks regarding Milano's recovery, but it hasn't progressed in the way the team has hoped. The team will see how things progress after the All-Star Break.

Meanwhile, Nicklas Backstrom is on this road trip but is not skating, and no decision has been made regarding his recovery or next steps. He stepped away from the game on Nov. 1 with his hip not responding as he'd hoped following hip resurfacing surgery in June 2022.

Washington Capitals Storylines

- Dylan Strome struck twice in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche and has three goals and four points in his last four games. He is the first Capitals player to hit 30 points this season, and his 18 goals lead the team.

- Alex Ovechkin has points in eight of his last 10 outings.
