WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals have three more periods to go before a refreshing break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, and they'll try to finish their strong first half on the right note as they host Utah Hockey Club.
Here's everything to know before puck drop at 12:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday at Capital One Arena.
There are no lineup changes for Washington going into the last game before the break. Logan Thompson will start as the goaltending rotation continues.
Here are the combinations:
Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Tom Wilson
Aliaksei Protas-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Connor McMichael
Taylor Raddysh-Lars Eller-Ethen Frank
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Andrew Mangiapane
Rasmus Sandin-John Carlson
Martin Fehervary-Matt Roy
Jakob Chychrun-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Logan Thompson
Charlie Lindgren
- Alex Ovechkin has goals in four straight outings, tying the NHL record for the most four-game goal streaks in league history. He is 16 away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history.
- Aliaksei Protas has points in eight of his last nine games.
- Dylan Strome is on a five-game point streak.
- John Carlson will be honored in a pregame ceremony for hitting 700 career NHL points and remains a threat to watch. He has assists in five straight games and is the team's all-time leader in goals, assists and points among defensemen.
- Keep an eye on Nic Dowd. The veteran center has been a force to be reckoned with with his fourth line.
- Same goes for Lars Eller, whose third line has seen a boost in play of late. He has goals in back-to-back games.
