The Winnipeg Jets conclude a three-game road trip with another difficult test against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Jets were on the losing end of their previous contest, allowing six goals to the Vancouver Canucks, losing 6-2. The Oilers enter tonight's contest winners of their last three games, defeating the New York Islanders, New York Rangers and Utah HC.
Evander Kane and Prime Minister Mark Carney joined the Oilers at their morning skate today but their bad news lies with the current injury status of the NHL's leading goal scorer Leon Draisaitl.
During his media availability following the practice, Oilers HC Kris Knoblauch said that Draisaitl is doubtful for tonight's game and is considered day-to-day.
It's unfortunate news for the Oilers, but it presents a great opportunity for the Jets. The way the Jets have been playing this season, they should feel confident in their ability to beat any team, but taking on the Oilers without Draisaitl is a rare occurrence and one they need to take advantage of.
It was a poor performance from Connor Hellebuyck and the Jets defensive game last time out, and they'll look for a bounce-back performance tonight. Hellebuyck is the confirmed goaltender, and he'll make his 54th appearance, searching for his 40th win of the season.
Puck drop is at 8:00 PM CST at Rogers Place.
