Jets fail to score again, get shut out by Ovechkin and Capitals.
The Winnipeg Jets’ up and down second half will live to see another day, following another lopsided shutout loss.
This time, it was at the hands of the Washington Capitals.
Following Saturday’s 12:00 PM afternoon affair with the New York Islanders, to which the Jets dropped by way of a 6-3 final, Winnipeg fell 3-0 to the Capitals from Washington D.C. on Sunday.
With the los, Winnipeg now sits at 44-22-5 for 93 points on the season, and has lost all of its games in hand on Dallas and Colorado.
In the second of two-straight afternoon affairs, the Jets couldn’t manage a goal, while Alex Ovechkin scored two himself.
It took until the third period for either team to get on the board, after the Jets outshot the hosts 20-11 after 40 minutes.
Winnipeg added another seven shots in the third, but just couldn’t find a way to beat Charlie Lindgren, who turned aside all 27 pucks he faced.
Hellebuyck suffered another lopsided loss, giving up three goals on 19 shots, including the two tallies by Ovechkin.
Next up for Winnipeg is another tough stretch of games, as Edmonton and Vegas roll into town for Tuesday/Thursday affairs at Canada Life Centre. Both games feature 7:00 PM start times.
