The newly acquired Carolina Hurricanes players made immediate impacts, scoring three of the Hurricanes' four goals as they beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-2.
The first period concluded with the Hurricanes up 1-0. Mark Jankowski, playing in his first game as a Hurricanes, opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season.
The Hurricanes upped the pressure in the middle frame, and Jankowski recorded his second goal of the game. Cole Perfetti thought he had cut the lead in half but his goal was overturned due to a high-stick.
The Jets had killed off the Hurricanes' first four power play opportunities but could not kill off the fifth. Logan Stankoven, also playing in his first game as a Hurricane, deflected a point shot to extend the lead to 3-0.
Alex Iafallo broke the Hurricanes' shutout with his 10th of the season, coming from a shot from a sharp angle. The goal came with 2:46 left in the final frame. Seth Jarvis scored into the empty net to secure the win for the Hurricanes.
Adam Lowry added another with under a minute left, but it wasn't enough for the Jets to mount the comeback
Connor Hellebuyck turned away 23 of the 26 shots he faced and Frederik Andersen was stellar, stopping 20 of the 22 shots the Jets threw at him.
The Jets are back in action on Tuesday when they host the New York Rangers.
