Manitoba Moose add three skaters to the roster including a former WHL leading goal-scorer

The Manitoba Moose have added some depth to their lineup with one-year deals with forwards Ben King and Tyson Empey as well as defenceman Darick Louis-Jean.

King was a fourth round pick for the Anaheim Ducks in 2022 and is coming off a 30-point campaign in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls. He recorded a matching 15 goals and 15 assists in 61 games that helped him finish eighth on the team in points.

The Vernon product was a point-per-game player in juniors with 106 goals and 134 assists for 240 points in 236 games split between the Swift Current Broncos and Red Deer Rebels. He led the WHL with 52 goals in 68 games during the 2021-22 season.

Empey has spent more of his time in the ECHL where he has 29 goals and 40 assists for 69 points in 147 games with three different teams. The Swift Current native has seen some AHL action but hasn’t been impactful with four goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 84 games.

Louis-Jean has also spent most of his time in pro hockey playing for ECHL teams with 11 goals and 33 assists for 44 points in 129 games. He joined the Jets organization during the 2022-23 season when playing for the Norfolk Admirals.

He has played just one AHL game in his career and will look to get a crack at making the leap to the AHL level this fall.
