Carter Brooks Winnipeg Jets Postgame Report For the second time in as many afternoons, the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild took to the ice for a Central Division clash. After Winnipeg laid a beating on Saturday afternoon by way of a 4-2 home final, the Jets stepped back up to the plate and took care of business once again on Sunday. Although following a different script for the second of two-straight games, the Jets battled back, outscoring the hosts in the final two periods, completing the comeback through the strength of the team's bottom-six forward group. Adam Lowry, Vladislav Namestnikov and Dominic Toninato each scored for Winnipeg, with Laurent Brossoit earning his fourth win of the year in the second test of the home-and-home set. With the win, Winnipeg momentarily moves back into first place in the uber-competitive Central Division, with Colorado still to play later on Sunday. The Jets improved to an incredible 10-1-2 through December and 22-9-4 on the season. Winnipeg's record is tied with Boston for fourth-best league-wide. After falling behind 1-0 on a Marcus Foligno strike late in the first period, Winnipeg battled back with Lowry's 100th career goal two minutes into the second period. Mason Appleton picked up a helper for the second-straight game on his linemate's tally. Frederick Gaudreau got the Wild their second lead of the game on an early third period power play marker. But just one minute later, it was Namestnikov who potted a goal on a Winnipeg man advantage, knotting things up once again. Cole Perfetti and Nate Schmidt drew the assists on Namestnikov's fourth of the season. After three more posts, the Jets finally took their first lead of the game, as recent big-league promotion Dominic Toninato scored what held out to be the eventual game-winner, putting his first of the season past Fleury off of two defensive assists from Brenden Dillon and Neal Pionk. Winnipeg held its 3-2 lead for the remaining 13 minutes and walked out of Minnesota with four points in the two-game set and improved its record to 22-9-4 through 35 games. Brossoit made 24 stops on the 26 Wild shots he faced, while Fleury turned aside 26 pucks of the 29 fired his way by Winnipeg. Next up for the Jets is a quick jaunt back to Canada Life Centre for a Tuesday night test with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Winnipeg will then hit the road for a three-game trek through San Jose, Anaheim and Arizona over the course of the next week.
