Mason Appleton Pre-Game The National Hockey League - in conjunction with the Winnipeg Jets - has announced defenceman Josh Morrissey as one of 32 nominees for the 2023-24 King Clancy Memorial Trophy. Awarded annually to the player who "best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community,” the King Clancy Memorial Trophy is voted on by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and an assortment of past award winners. The 32 nominees had their names brought forward by their respective clubs for consideration. All 32 players will be assessed under three criteria: inspiration, involvement and impact within the community. The winner will receive a $25K donation to help benefit a local charity, while also awarding his club a $20K grant to go towards a humanitarian cause.
