The Winnipeg Jets have traded Kaapo Kahkonen to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Chris Driedger.

Chris Driedger (60) takes a water break during a TV timeout. The Hershey Bears defeated the Coachella Valley Firebirds, 5-2, in Game 2 of the Calder Cup Finals on Sunday June 16, 2024, at Giant Center to tie the best-of-7 series at 1-1.

Kahkonen has spent his Jets tenure in the AHL, tending the goal for the Manitoba Moose. The 28-year-old has produced poor numbers this year, recording an .885 SV% and a 3.29 GAA in 22 games.

Dreidger has also spent the entire 2024-25 campaign in the AHL, playing with the Charlotte Checkers. His season has been fairly poor as well, posting an .878 SV% and a 2.97 GAA in 20 games.

The move is a pure swap of third string goaltenders with veteran experience. Dreidger is a native of Winnipeg and will be motivated to turn his season around back in his home town.
