Which Pittsburgh Penguins players have no-trade clauses in their contracts?

Which Pittsburgh Penguins players have no-trade clauses in their contracts?

The NHL trade deadline is approaching on Friday, Mar. 7, at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have eight games left on their schedule until then, with five home contests and three on the road.

At the 4 Nations Face-off break, the Penguins are five points out of a playoff spot and, based on statistics listed at Money Puck, have a 3.4% chance of qualifying for the postseason.

General manager Kyle Dubas has been busy adjusting the lineup throughout the season but most recently made a splash by acquiring Danton Heinen and Vincent Desharnais from the Vancouver Canucks.

In exchange, Pittsburgh dealt away pending free agent Marcus Pettersson and forward Drew O'Connor.

Earlier in the season, Dubas traded for Pierre-Olivier Joseph (St. Louis) and Philip Tomasino (Nashville). Despite the lineup changes, goaltending has been a concern for the Penguins, but things are a little more balanced since Alex Nedeljkovic has become the starter.

However, there's still room for improvement. As we count the days and hours until the deadline, here's a look at the Penguins players whose contracts contain a no-trade clause, which may make further adjustments a little more complicated.

    No Movement Clauses

    • Sidney Crosby (2013-2027)
    • Evgeni Malkin (2022-2026)
    • Bryan Rust (2022-2025)
    • Erik Karlsson (2019-2027)
    • Kris Letang (2022-2026)

    Modified No Trade Clause

    • Kevin Hayes - 12 team no trade list (2022-2026)
    • Danton Heinen - 12 team no trade list (2024-2026)
    • Ryan Graves - 12 team no trade list (2023-2026)
    • Tristan Jarry - 12 team no trade list (2023-2028)
    • Michael Bunting - Ten team no trade list (2023-2025)
    • Rickard Rakell - Eight team no trade list (2022-2028)
    • Noel Acciari - Eight team no trade list (2023-2026)

Thus far, 36 players have skated in a game for Pittsburgh this season, with over half older than 28. Meanwhile, the top ten names (minus Lars Eller) are above 31, and many are locked into lengthy, expensive contracts.

It remains to be seen whether Dubas is done making deals this season or will wait until the offseason to continue adjusting. His decision will ultimately depend significantly on the status of the 12 skaters on this list.
