The Quebec Remparts were considered underdogs heading into the Memorial Cup, and they only lost one game en route to the championship. On this week's edition of The Hockey News On The 'Q' Podcast recorded on June 6:
- How about those Quebec Remparts? With their Memorial Cup victory last Sunday, that makes it the first time a league in the CHL has won four straight tournaments. A QMJHL team has also won seven of the past 11 Memorial Cup tournaments. When will they no longer be underdogs?
- The Drummondville Voltigeurs and coach Eric Belanger agreed to part ways. The team recently hired Yanick Lemay as GM.
- The Gatineau Olympiques face an interesting situation leading up to the QMJHL draft this weekend. After Louis Robitaille and the Olympiques parted ways two weeks ago, someone else declined the role of interim GM. So who's the hockey operations advisor who will run the draft, and who will help him?
- The Florida Panthers are the team of the week, with second-rounder Evan Nause in the QMJHL and seven 'Q' alumni in the pro ranks.
- Defenseman Charles Cote is the 2023 NHL draft prospect of the week.
- Rest in peace to Doris Labonte and Blair 'Bearcat' Joseph, who died of cancer at the age of 69 and 78, respectively. Labonte was a former QMJHL coach and GM, while Joseph was a longtime player, coach and scout in Cape Breton at various levels.
