A couple of weeks ago, Czechia released their rosters for the Under-20 Five Nations Tournament, which featured two QMJHLers.

With the tournament fast approaching, more rosters are being released for the tournament.

Yesterday, Slovakia's roster was finalized with a familiar name.

Frantisek Dej, who played for the Sherbrooke Phoenix last season, has made the cut.

The 6-foot-4 centerman is coming off a 16 point season (4+12) with the Phoenix last season.

With the additions of Swiss defenseman Elia Pedrotti and Latvian goaltender Linards Feldbergs, Dej won't be returning to the Phoenix for the 2024-25 season.

Before the QMJHL, he played primarily in the Slovak second division during his NHL draft year. With HC Modre Kridla Slovan he had 21 points (8+13) in 24 games.

Dej has also been a permanent fixture of the Slovak World Junior team over the past two seasons, playing in 9 games at the tournament but failing to register a point.

While he will certainly be one of the most tenured players on the squad, one would have to imagine that his lackluster production in the last few tournaments and his slow adjustment to North American hockey will weigh on his chances.

If Dej can have a big tournament here, that momentum could be the jumpstart needed for him to return back to form.

The tournament begins today and will run through the beginning of September.
