Columbus Blue Jackets goalie prospect Melvin Strahl has been named a finalist for USHL Goalie of the Year.
Strahl, 20, was a fifth-round pick by the Blue Jackets in the 2023 NHL Draft.
This season with the Youngstown Phantoms, he put together a strong year, going 33-12-4 with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage over 48 games.
The Swedish-born netminder has represented his country on multiple occasions, including at the World Juniors. Looking ahead to next season, he’s committed to Michigan State University for 2025-26.
While that means he’s still a few years out from pushing for an NHL spot, Strahl is definitely a name Blue Jackets fans should keep tabs on.
