Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau have been honored once again.

On Saturday, the Salem County Recreational Park in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, was renamed the Gaudreau Fields in honor of the two fallen brothers.

Gaudreau Family friend Fred Sorbello told THN Columbus on Saturday, "It was a great day for our local community to show our continued support for a family that is so loved. John and Matty loved playing softball; the tenacity that they exhibited on the ice was the same on a rural softball field in a little town in NJ. They were just two very good softball players who happened to be two very gifted hockey players."

According to Sorbello, the Gaudreau Bros. played in the Penns Grove-Carneys Point men's softball league at the fields for several years. Gaudreau started a team in 2017 called "The P-City Tropics," and played with his brother Matthew, as well as friends and fellow NHLers Eric and Buddy Robinson.

"John was a competitor in everything, but as humble and modest as they come," added Sorbello. He also says that Johnny loved playing softball and would take batting practice at his house to get ready for games.

"Forever Family. Forever in our hearts" - Fred Sorbello said at Saturday's event.
