Boone Jenner(1), Justin Danforth(8), and Kent Johnson(22) scored the goals for the CBJ, while Elvis Merzļikins made 28 saves in a 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
PPG Paints Arena is truly a House Of Horrors for the Columbus Blue Jackets. With just two wins in the past 10 years, it's almost a given that when the CBJ visits Pittsburgh, to chalk it up as a loss.
The Blue Jackets had 47 shots on Friday against the Penguins, so it was not for lack of trying. Columbus dominated the underlying stats such as Corsi and Fenwick. Their Corsi was 94-55 over Pittsburgh, or a 63.1% share. Their Fenwick was 69-47, or 59.5%. They totaled 53 scoring chances, and 24 high-danger scoring chances, which nearly doubled the combined chances for the Pens.
Surely this slump can't continue for much longer.
Dean Evason after the game - "We weren't even close to duplicating (the performance from last night). We probably talked too much about scoring goals here and forgot to defend tonight."
"Tonight, we forced the issue. We cheated, got on the wrong sides of things and lost sides of pucks, wrong sides of people and consequently it ended up in our net. That's not how you play the game. That's not how we play the game."
