Former Blues Defenseman Placed On Waivers cover image

Former St. Louis Blues defenseman Nick Leddy was placed on waivers today by the San Jose Sharks.

Former St. Louis Blues and current San Jose Sharks defenseman Nick Leddy has been placed on waivers.

The 34-year-old has played 19 games with the Sharks this season, recording four assists and a minus-9 rating while averaging 17:30 of ice time. The move comes as a consequence of several injured players returning to the lineup, as well as 2025 first-round pick Michael Misa eclipsing the 10-game mark.

If the veteran defender clears waivers, he’ll join the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL.

Leddy spent the previous four seasons with the Blues after they acquired him via trade in 2022. The trade in which the Blues acquired Leddy from the Detroit Red Wings saw the Blues land Leddy and Luke Witkowski in exchange for Oskar Sundqvist, Jake Walman, and a 2023 second-round pick.

He went on to play 211 games with the Blues, scoring nine goals and 64 points. This past off-season, the Blues placed Leddy on waivers, and the Sharks claimed him.

With a cap hit of $4 million, Leddy will likely clear waivers without a claim placed on him, but if a team is desperate for a depth defenseman with 1061 games of experience, they could look to open up the cap space to claim him.
