Welcome to this edition of the Vancouver Canucks post-game analytics report. This recurring deep dive breaks down the analytics behind each Canucks game as recorded by Natural Stat Trick. In this article, we look back on Vancouver's most recent 2-1 loss to the Utah Hockey Club.

Sunday's game was the definition of low-event hockey. At even strength, the Utah Hockey Club outproduced the Canucks in scoring chances at 15-10, while the two teams each had five high-danger scoring chances. The difference, though, was that Utah was able to produce at even strength, which ended up being the difference.

As for the heatmap, it shows just how inactive that Canucks were in the offensive zone. They were only able to generate 15 total shots, with four registering as high-danger. Ultimately, it was one of Vancouver's worst offensive performances of the season and, if not for Artūrs Šilovs, could have resulted in a blowout defeat.

When it comes to strong performances, one of the Canucks best players was Filip Chytil. During his 13:22 of even-strength ice time, Vancouver held a 5-2 scoring chances advantage and won the high-danger scoring chances battle 2-1. Chytil also recorded three shots on goal and finished the night with an xGF% of 69.95

Lastly, Nils Höglander had another decent night from an analytics perspective. During his 8:24 of even-strength ice time, the Canucks held a 3-1 high-danger scoring chances advantage while he finished with an xGF% of 67.29. While the last two games have had disappointing results, Höglander's play remains one of the few bright spots from this past weekend.
