It wasn’t exactly a “Play Free Bird” situation, but the USA continued its domination in hockey by winning the OHL Cup Championship Saturday afternoon in Toronto.

In case you haven’t noticed, the USA is killing it in all the international tournaments, and now, for the first time in history, they’ve won the premier under-16 event in Ontario, with the Detroit Honeybaked taking the OHL Cup in a 3-1 win over the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.

Another subplot is the fate of 15-year-old Toronto Jr. Canadiens defenseman Kade O’Rourke, a Texas-born right-handed shooter who came to play in the Greater Toronto Hockey League at age 11 and is seeking an exceptional status exemption from Hockey Canada to play in the Ontario League as an underage player next season.
