The Medicine Hat Tigers winger and projected first overall in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft has announced that he will play next season at Penn State University in the NCAA [http://thn.com/ncaa]. McKenna will join former Tri-City Americans defenceman Jackson Smith, as well as former Spokane Chiefs forward Shea Van Olm, who are also headed to Penn State in 2025-26. While McKenna's time in the WHL was short, he made quite the impression. The 17-year-old won CHL Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season after posting 129 points in 56 games.
