A press release announced on Wednesday, August 13, that a broadcasting rights agreement has been reached between Warner Bros., Discovery, and the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation for the Aurora Liiga, Finland's top women's league.

Until last season, matches were broadcast on the MTV pay network. This new agreement significantly changes that situation, as Finns will be able to watch Aurora Liiga matches for free, which were offered on the TV5 and Kutonen channels, which are owned by the Warner Bros. group. Selected matches will also be broadcast on the HBO Max platform.

In the press release, Aurora Liiga Director Henni Laaksonen welcomed the agreement: "The collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery is an important milestone for the Aurora League and Finnish women's hockey as a whole. This partnership brings unprecedented visibility to our league and makes the story of our players even more accessible to viewers. This increased visibility not only strengthens hockey, but also promotes the status and appreciation of women's sport in a broader sense." The Finnish women's league, Naisten Liiga, renamed Aurora Liiga in 2024, is continuing its transformation and will attempt to catch up with Sweden and Switzerland.
