Goalie Ebba Svensson Träff has won the Guldhjälmen, the Golden Helmet Award given to the best female player in Sweden. This award has been given to men since 1986, but only to women since 2020. Players vote for this MVP title. Svensson Träff succeeds Elisa Holopainen. She is the first female goalie to receive this honor.
The performance is all the more remarkable given that Svensson Träff played for a struggling Linköping team, which avoided relegation from the SDHL against Rögle. The 21-year-old goaltender posted a save percentage of 93.1% in 33 regular season games, and 95.8% in the relegation battle.
This award caps off an excellent season for Ebba Svensson Träff, who was the starting goalie for Tre Kronor Dam at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. In six games, her save percentage was 93.9% including two shutouts, and Sweden finished fourth at the Olympics.
