Karoliina Rantamäki made history this Sunday (October 5th) by becoming the most prolific player in the history of the Aurora Liiga, Finland's top women's league.
Her first point in the game against RoKi allowed her to achieve this feat, but Rantamäki recorded a four-point game (2+2) in an 11-0 victory for her team, Kiekko-Espoo.
The previous record was 775 points (328+447) in 644 games, held by Riikka Noronen. After her last game, Rantamäki has a total of 779 points. Last February, she made another milestone, becoming the first player in history to reach the 400-goal mark in Aurora Liiga.
The 47-year-old has shown remarkable longevity. She is starting her 22nd season in Finland, having previously played 12 seasons in Russia with Novgorod. This season, the veteran started with 10 points in 9 points... Beware Jaromír Jágr, Karoliina Rantamäki is still hungry for more performances!
