This Thursday, August 21st, a rather special screening took place at the famous Lucerna Palace in Prague.
The Czech women's national team and numerous guests from the Czech hockey community had the pleasure of a preview screening of "Holky na led!", literally "Girls on the ice," on the big screen.
This documentary follows the Czech players, both on the ice and behind the scenes, throughout the 2024-25 season, leading up to the World Championship on home soil in České Budějovice. It is the first feature-length film dedicated to women's hockey produced in Czechia to be released in cinemas. It should also be noted that the film crew was composed entirely of women.
The last World Championship in the Czech Republic was a popular success, with a record attendance of 122,331 spectators. This theatrical release should further prolong the enthusiasm for women's hockey in the country. "Holky na led!" will be released in Czech cinemas on October 16.
Zug player Noemi Neubauerová explained to ceskyhokej.cz: "I would like people to see things and our hockey through our eyes after watching the film. What we had to go through to get to this point. Sometimes it really wasn't easy. You also have to see a side that people haven't seen before. What it was like growing up and playing with boys, etc."
Team General Manager Tereza Sadilová also welcomed the initiative: "I'm happy that women are at the forefront. It's something new, it gives me goosebumps. I'm proud of the girls, of their determination. I'm happy to be among them."
