A charity hockey event, the KR8 Classic for Leucan is set to take place this summer with a spotlight on women's hockey.

The event, which takes place in Montreal on July 22 will feature a game between some of the top women in the sport, as well as a breakaway challenge, 4-on-4 competition, and the feature game between a team led by Montreal Force president Kevin Raphael against a team led by NHL star Anthony Duclair.

“It's pretty amazing to see over 80 athletes and personalities involved in what is now hockey's biggest event of the summer. I will always remember the first edition with 162 people in the stands in Anjou. Today, thanks to the endless efforts of volunteers and people who participate, we are at the stage where players contact us to participate. Although it is for a good cause, the competitive aspect remains there. I encourage everyone to come and have a look,” said Raphael.

All of the money raised will go to Leaucan, a Quebec based organization helping children with cancer and their families.

Playing on Team Raphael are Montreal Force players Kim Deschenes and Ann-Sophie Bettez, along with NCAA athlete Eve Gascon. Team Duclair features Force players Elizabeth Giguere and Samantha Isbell.

In the 4-on-4 game, Wisconsin Badgers forward Marianne Picard and new Force signee Audrey-Anne Veillette will take part with Team Josh Roy against Team Georges Laracque.

The women's spotlight game will invovle a mix of current players, prospects, and legends with Team OnFocus Media featuring Caroline Ouellette and Julie Chu, as well as Emmy Fecteau, Rosalie Bégin-Cyr, Jessika Boulanger, Émilie Lussier, Deziray De Sousa, Émilie Lavoie, Camille Dumont, Christine Deaudelin, Gabrielle De Serres, Taylor Baker, Sally Hoeer, Alexanne Boyer, Alexia Moreau, Marie-Soleil Deschênes, and Arianne Leblanc.

Team Sans Restriction will include Sarah Lefort, Jade Downie-Landry, Jessy-Maude Drapeau, Olivia Hale, Alexandra Labelle, Léonie Philbert, Kristina Shanahan, Maude Gélinas, Theresa Schafzahl, Catherine Daoust, Brigitte Laganière, Marie-Joelle Allard, Marika Labrecque, Kelly-Anne Nadeau, Émily Rickwood, Alice Philbert, and Mahika Sarrazin.
