Rookie Boston Pride netminder Corrine Schroeder has been named the PHF's 2022-2023 goaltender of the year.
Schroeder set three PHF single season records this season with Boston including most wins (19), shutouts (7) and saves (761). Shroeader led all netminders in goals against average posting a 1.67 mark, along with a save percentage of .955.
“What impressed me about Corinne’s season, beyond the statistics and records, was her consistency throughout the year, especially playing as many games as she did and how often it included back-to-back starts,” said Mel Davidson, PHF Director of League and Hockey Operations in league news release. “She has great size that she uses to her advantage in her stance and positioning. Most of all, her play exuded confidence which allowed her team to play freely knowing that she was a dependable last line of defense."
Schroeder posted a 19-1-1 record this season leading Boston to a regular season title. She also represented Canada at the PHF All-Star weekend.
“It’s a huge honor to be selected as the PHF Goaltender of the Year,” said Schroeder.
“It was a record-breaking season for me and the greatest way that I could have kicked off my professional career, and I am so thankful for that. I’m so grateful to my team, coaches, and family who supported me and helped me have such an incredible season."
Schroeder spent five seasons in the NCAA playing for Boston University, before transferring to Quinnipiac for her final campaign. Schroeder was named Quinnipiac's MVP and was a national finalist for goaltender of the year.
"Corinne had an incredible season for the Boston Pride,” said Paul Mara, Pride head coach. “Her competitive drive and mental strength carried her to levels the PHF has never seen before, and it was a pleasure to witness and to coach.”
Schroeder is also a finalist for the PHF Most Valuable Player award as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA) and Outstanding Player of the Year as voted by members of the PHF Players’ Association.
