The Metropolitan Riveters have signed one of the top scoring blueliners in Canada agreeing to terms with St. Francis Xavier defender Lauren Dabrowski.

Dabrowski, 21, will be one of the youngest players in the PHF this season opting to leave USports hockey with eligibility remaining. After a spectacular season with St. FX, Dabrowski was named a USports First Team All-Canadian.

“Lauren had a stellar college career at U SPORTS playing for StFX,” said Riveters coach Venla Hovi in a team news release. “She has a great amount of potential and is ready for the new challenge of pro hockey. Lauren has great offensive instincts on defense and isn’t afraid to join the rush. She can filter pucks to the net, and makes smart, quick first passes on breakouts.”

Dabrowski scored 15 goals and 34 points in 28 games from the blueline this season, and added eight points in seven playoff contests. Dabrowski spent one season playing NCAA Division I hockey before transferring to St. FX.

“Words don't describe how excited and appreciative I am to be a Riveter,” said Dabrowski. “I have always wanted to play professional hockey and I am overjoyed by the fact that I am able to do so, especially for an organization like the Riveters. For the Riveters to give me the opportunity and see my potential as a defender in the league is something I am very grateful for and am ready for."
