    The first round of the 2025 PWHL Draft is in the books.

    As expected, the New York Sirens selected Colgate and Czechia national team forward Kristyna Kaltounkova first overall. The Sirens' next move to send Ella Shelton to the Toronto Sceptres in exchange for the third overall pick and 22nd overall pick was the real shake up.

    Here's a look at the first round of the 2025 PWHL Draft.

    #1 - New York Sirens - Kristyna Kaltounkova

    The power forward who plays a hard nosed two-way game, and who is one of the elite scorers on the planet goes to New York. Kaltounkova suited up for Colgate this season and was a World Championship All-Star representing Czechia.

    #2 - Boston Fleet - Haley Winn

    The top four blueliner for Team USA was a First Team All-Star for Clarkson. She's mobile and an elite puck mover. Winn will immediately be one of the top offensive defenders in the league.

    #3 - New York Sirens (from Toronto) - Casey O'Brien 

    The Sirens made a blockbuster trade sending Ella Shelton to Toronto in exchange for the 3rd and 22nd overall picks. With their pick they chose Wisconsin Badgers star Casey O'Brien. O'Brien led the NCAA in scoring by 16 points and won the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Award.

    #4 - Montreal Victoire - Nicole Gosling

    The former NCAA First Team All-Star and Defender of the Year, Nicole Gosling was Winn's partner at Clarkson and will bolster Montreal's back end. Gosling won gold with Canada at the 2024 World Championships.

    #5 - Ottawa Charge - Rory Guilday

    The 5-foot-11 defender who has multiple World Championship appearances to her record with Team USA will be a big shutdown player for the Charge. Their blueline needed support and Guilday will do just that. Guilday captained Cornell this season.

    #6 - Minnesota Frost - Kendall Cooper

    Cooper captained Quinnipiac this season. The puck moving blueliner also represented Canada's national development team this season. Cooper is physical, likes to transport the puck, and will help soften the losses of Thompson and Jaques.

    #7 - PWHL Vancouver - Michelle Karvinen

    Finland's all-time leading scorer and the captain of the SDHL champions Frolunda will bring a veteran presence to the wing of Vancouver's top six forward group. She a talented playmaker who brings more experience and skill to Vancouver.

    #8 - PWHL Seattle - Jenna Buglioni

    The Ohio State standout plays a two-way game and brings a pair of NCAA national titles. She'll bring a solid checking role to Seattle's third line.
