Czechia's Kristyna Kaltounkova was selected first overall in the 2025 PWHL Draft by the New York Sirens. Kaltounkova played for Colgate at the NCAA level this season.

"The PWHL gives players like me the chance to experience a different life," Kaltounkova told The Hockey News prior to the draft. "I will make the most of this opportunity, and I hope to inspire others along the way. I am so grateful for the women that came before me to build this league and gave players like me this opportunity."

Kaltounkova is a physical two-way center who blocks shots, wins puck battles, and has a pure goal scorer's touch.

This season Kaltounkova recorded 26 goals and 48 points in 37 games for Colgate, and added six points in seven games for Czechia at the World Championships, where she was named a tournament All-Star.

New York selected first overall for the second straight season, last year picking Princeton's Sarah Fillier with the first overall pick.

Off the ice, Kaltounkova is looking forward to contributing to the New York community.

"I hope to be a well-rounded person and player," she told The Hockey News "I want to be a positive member of my community and have worked with different organizations during my time at Colgate....Whatever city I am in, I want to work with those who are less fortunate - especially children. I want to be a role model and make an impact. I believe I am at my best when I am working towards that."

The New York Sirens also own picks 9, 17, 25, 33, and 41 in the 2025 PWHL Draft.
