Kayle Osborne spent four years in New York State playing for Colgate, but this will be her first trip to New York City after PWHL New York took the netminder in the draft.
Kayle Osborne spent the past spent the past four years in New York State playing for Colgate University. Despite the fact she lived and played in Hamilton, New York, Osborne never made the 4 hour drive to New York City.
After being drafted by PWHL New York in the fifth round, 28th overall in the PWHL Draft, Osborne will be moving from a New York state of mind to a New York City state of mind.
"Playing in New York is like a dream come true," Osborne told media following the draft. "I've never to New York, so I think it will be really cool to play there and be with the girls and get to work, because the PWHL is an awesome place to play and New York is I want to be."
Osborne, 22, hails from Ottawa, and posted a 1.28 GAA and .941 save percentage along with six shutouts in 30 starts this season for Colgate. She'll be re-united with her former coach Greg Fargo who was hired by the team this offseason, along with former Colgate teammate Ally Simpson who was also drafted by PWHL New York.
"Being back in New York State I think is exciting," said Osborne. "I liked my four years at Colgate, so I'm excited to be back in New York for another year."
Osborne was one of only three goaltenders selected in the 2024 PWHL Draft. The first was Gwyneth Philips who was picked by Ottawa, while Raygan Kirk was the final pick in the draft heading to Toronto.
Osborne was named to Canada's Rivalry Series roster in 2023-2024 serving as third goalie for a stop in the series.
