Right now the majority of PWHL players are strength training, recuperating, running hockey schools, spending time on the beach or water, playing pickleball and golf, and catching up with family.
Some however, are still looking for jobs as free agency hits the summer lull. Soon, PWHL Draft picks will begin signing contracts, which will give general managers a better sense of the money they have remaining. There's also a dozen restricted free agents left to sign with their teams. Those signings could come known on July 8 when the league offices resume operations.
When those items begin to settle, general managers will extend their final camp invitations, and perhaps contract offers, to the handful of experienced PWHL players who will look to claim a roster spot before camp begins.
Among those are players like Dominika Laskova, Alexandra Labelle, Alexa Vasko, Loren Gabel, and Amanda Pelkey, veterans who can make valid contributions to on-ice success.
There's also a group of undrafted free agents like Vita Ponyatovskaya who is believed to be headed to Ottawa Charge camp, Morgan Neitzke, Reece Hunt, Julia Shaunessy, Sydney Langseth, Laura Fuoco, and Olivia Muhn, among others who will be looking for camp invites or contracts.
There's even more to the free agent pool when you look at players like Kristin Della Rovere, Julia Nearis, Sarah Bujold, Madison Bizal, and Camryn Wong who all played overseas last year.
While many positions were filled at the draft, six of the PWHL's eight teams are still in need of another goaltender as well. That list includes players like CJ Jackson, Marlene Boissonnault, Logan Angers, Lucy Morgan, and Kassidy Sauve. Undrafted NCAA goalies like Tindra Holm, Jorden Mattison, Jessie McPherson, Allie Kelley, and Jane Gervais could all get an invite, as could U Sports goalie Kaitlyn Ross.
