Sogaard Shuts Down the Marlies, Jobst's Hat-trick Defuses the Rocket, Fan-Fumble Costs Griffins in Overtime

It was a wild night of action across the AHL this past Friday.

Major news and notes include a dominant performance from Belleville's Mads Sogaard, who put up a stellar 43-save performance against the Marlies, Mason Jobst's hatty lifts the Americans past the Rocket, and, perhaps most notably, a costly fan fumble led to a loss for the Grand Rapids Griffins. 

With 26 seconds left in the game between the Griffins and Cleveland Monster, Tim Gettinger ripped the disc from the slot to tie it at 2-2. What came next would lead to disaster.

Following the game-tying goal, several fans threw foam pucks that were part of a charitable fundraiser onto the ice, resulting in a delay-of-game penalty to Grand Rapids that carried into overtime.

Forty-six seconds into overtime, Brendan Gaunce slid the puck past the pad of Sebastian Cossa from the corner of the crease for a game-winning power-play goal. A costly blunder that dampened an otherwise exciting game.
