Wednesday was a wild day for trades across the National Hockey League.

The past 24 hours have been a wild flurry of trades in the National Hockey League ahead of Friday's trade deadline.
Numerous pieces in the transactions have a history in the AHL.
Casey Mittelstadt, 25, is the eighth overall draft pick of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Sabres. He's suited up for 36 AHL games with Buffalo's American League affiliate in Rochester, banking nine goals and adding 16 assists for 25 points in the 2019-20 season.
Mittelstadt was traded one-for-one by the Sabres to the Colorado Avalanche for fellow former first-rounder Bowen Byram. The fourth overall pick in 2019 played just two games for the Colorado Eagles in 2021-22. He has 63 points in 146 NHL games.
The Avalanche began their day with a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers, sending Ryan Johansen and a first-round pick to the Broad Street Bullies for defender Sean Walker and a fifth-round pick.
Walker, 29, started his pro career in the AHL with the Ontario Reign, putting up 45 points in 86 games across two seasons.
Johansen, 31, the fourth overall draft pick in 2010, played 40 games in the AHL with the Springfield Falcons, putting up 17 goals and 33 points.
Earlier in the day the Edmonton Oilers acquired forwards Adam Henrique, and Sam Carrick, unsigned draft choice goalie Ty Taylor and a 7th-round draft pick in the 2024 NHL Draft in a three-team trade with the Anaheim Ducks and Tampa Bay Lightning. Anaheim receives a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a conditional 5th-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from Edmonton. Tampa Bay receives a 4th-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft from Edmonton.
Henrique, 34, played in 92 AHL games with the former affiliate of the New Jersey Devils in Albany, putting up 59 points.
Carrick, 32, has spent parts of 12 seasons in the American League with the Toronto Marlies, Rockford IceHogs and San Diego Gulls. He logged four games with the GUlls in 2022-23.
The final trade of the day, thus far at least, saw the New York Rangers acquire forward Alex Wennberg from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a 2nd-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a conditional 4th-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Wennberg, 29, spent just six games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons, putting up three assists with a plus-four.
Kick-starting the action last night, the Vegas Golden Knights acquired Anthony Mantha from the Washington Capitals for a pair of draft picks. The 29-year-old spent parts of three seasons in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, suiting up for 132 games, and netting 88 points.
