Brian Halonen's (UTC) started out the competition with his first shot registering at 95.3. His second shot clocked in at 100.2.
Dmitri Simashev (TUC), who went first for the West didn't have his first shot register. His first official shot got marked in at 92.8 before bettering it at 93.9 with shot number two.
Kaliyev had the same shot-registering malfunction as Simashev but when he registered his first official shot, he broke Halonen's record with 101.0. After another clock malfunction, he delivered the winning speed of 104.0.
Except for the final participant, Bradley Nadeau (CHI) who put up 103.0, no one came close to toppling Kaliyev.
As the Kaliyev was a representative of the East and the East had the best speed on average, the Eastern Conference received two points.
