(Shawn Dowd/Rochester Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK)The Belleville Senators have signed defenseman Zachary Massicotte to a professional try-out, it was reported Saturday.
Massicotte, who hails from Shawinigan, Que., has spent the entire 2024-25 season with the ECHL's Maine Mariners, putting up one goal and nine assists for 10 points in 58 games.
Having turned pro in 2022, Massicotte has appeared in 23 career AHL regular season games with the Senators and the Syracuse Crunch, accumulating one assist.
Before making the jump to the pro game, Massicotte played parts of five seasons in the QMJHL with the Rimouski Oceanic and the Shawinigan Cataractes.
Once again joining the Senators, Massicotte will have the chance to show he deserves to stick. Standing at 6-foot-4, he does not shy away from throwing the body and likes to make it difficult for the opposition in the defensive zone. Although it remains to be seen if he appears in a game, Massicotte could be relied upon to play if need be.
