The Boston Bruins have recalled goaltender Brandon Bussi, forward Patrick Brown and forward Jayson Megna from Providence, Bruins' GM Don Sweeney announced Monday.
In a corresponding move, the Bruins assigned goaltender Michael DiPietro to Providence.
Brown, the only player recalled to have seen playoff action with Boston this postseason, has bounced between the NHL and AHL regularly throughout the year. In 42 regular season games with Providence, he had 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points. Before Providence was eliminated in the second round, Brown also had three points in three playoff games.
In 11 regular season games with the big club, Brown registered an assist and was held pointless in his lone appearance during the playoffs.
A native of Bloomfield Hills, MI., Brown has been a regular fixture in the NHL the last few seasons, spending time with the Vegas Golden Knights, Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators before joining the Bruins last summer.
Amongst the top point getters for Providence this year, Megna scored 19 goals and added 37 assists for 56 points in 69 regular season games. He also collected three points in four playoff games.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, FL., Megna only appeared in one game with the Bruins during the regular season, being held pointless in the process.
Bussi, the last recall of the group, did not see any action with Boston this past season but was solid for Providence in both the regular season and playoffs.
In 41 regular season games, Bussi collected a 23-10-5 record to go along with a 2.67 GAA and a .913 SV%.
Although Providence was eliminated at the hands of the Hartford Wolf Pack, Bussi again posted a solid stat line in the playoffs - sporting a 2.14 GAA and a .922 SV% in four games.
As the Bruins look to keep their season alive tomorrow night, it is unlikely that any of them appear with the team. With that being said, it never hurts to have depth on the sidelines in case anything unexpected happens.
