Jaaska is in his first season in North America
The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled forward Juha Jaaska from the Chicago Wolves, the team announced Sunday.
Jaaska, who hails from Helsinki, Finland, joined the Hurricanes during the offseason after spending parts of nine years playing in Liiga.
Having split time this season between the Hurricanes and the Wolves, Jaaska has gone pointless in two NHL games while putting up seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 26 AHL games.
During his nine seasons in Finland's top pro league, Jaaska played for HIFK, accumulating 51 goals and 91 assists for 142 points in 310 career regular season games.
With Jaaska only signed through to the end of the season, it is unknown if he will remain with the Hurricanes but he has looked good so far in his first North American season. As he gets another opportunity to showcase his skills, Jaaska should soon get on the board for his first career NHL point.
