The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled goaltender Ruslan Khazheyev from the Chicago Wolves, it was announced Saturday.

Khazheyev, who is in his first season in North America, has split time this year between the AHL and ECHL, going 0-1-0 along with a 6.65 GAA and a .800 SP in one appearance with the ECHL's Bloomington Bison and 5-13-0 with a 3.49 GAA and a .876 SP in 20 games with the Wolves.

Drafted by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Draft, Khazheyev spent time playing in the VHL (Russia's second tier pro league) and the MHL (Russia's top junior league) last season.

Although Khazheyev's numbers have dropped since coming over to North America, it is not indicative of his potential as a goalie. Having put up stellar numbers over his playing career in Russia, Khazheyev should be able to bounce back and could be an intriguing piece for the Hurricanes in the future.
