Seney lead the Rockford IceHogs in points during the regular season

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Brett Seney to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Monday.

The contract will see Seney make $775,000 next season.

Seney, who just finished up his second season with the Blackhawks organization, led the Rockford IceHogs in total points during the regular season. His 63 points in 68 games was enough to lead his team by more than 20 points.

Seney also got into four games with the Blackhawks where he was held pointless.

A 2015 sixth-round pick of the New Jersey Devils, Seney spent time in the Devils and Maple Leafs systems prior to making his way to Chicago.

After finishing his four-year NCAA career at Merrimack College, Seney spent parts of four seasons with the Devils before moving to the Leafs in 2021 where he spent one season.

In 66 NHL games over parts of five seasons, Seney has scored six goals and added eight assists for 14 points.

While he has not seen a full season in the NHL since turning pro, Seney has been as consistent as one can be in the AHL with 257 points in 318 games across seven seasons.

With the Blackhawks still in the midst of their rebuild, Seney could play his way into a role next season if he can impress early on.
