Jones split time between the Firebirds and the ECHL's Kansas City Mavericks last season

The Coachella Valley Firebirds have re-signed defenseman Ryan Jones to a one-year deal, the team announced this past week.

Jones, a product of Crown Point, Ind., split this past season between the Firebirds and ECHL's Kansas City Mavericks. In five games with Coachella Valley, he was held pointless. With Kansas City, Jones scored four goals and added 21 assists for 25 points in 53 regular season games.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Jones turned pro in 2020-21 after four seasons in the NCAA with the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

With Jones re-signing with the Firebirds, there is a good chance he could stick with the team for the 2024-25 season. Last year was his first pro season where he spent time in the ECHL and he has proven in the past that he can produce at the AHL level.
