Morrison split time between the AHL and ECHL last season

The Coachella Valley Firebirds have signed forward Cam Morrison to a one-year deal. the team announced Thursday.

A product of Aurora, Ont., Morrison split time between the Florida Everblades (ECHL) and the Charlotte Checkers last season. In eight games with Florida, he posted six points. With Charlotte, Morrison scored five goals and added six assists for 11 points in 45 regular season games.

Drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Morrison turned pro in 2020 with the Rockford IceHogs after four seasons at Notre Dame (NCAA).

Over the course of 123 AHL regular season games, Morrison has collected 41 points.

As he joins the Firebirds, Morrison has the chance to be a solid depth player for the team. For a squad that is looking to take the final step towards their first Calder Cup, signing players like Morrison to round out their team will only help propel them in that direction.
