Mateychuk just finished competing in the Memorial Cup with the Moose Jaw Warriors

Discussing the Eastern Conference Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs

The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned Moose Jaw Warriors defenseman Denton Mateychuk to the Cleveland Monsters, it was announced Monday.

Mateychuk, a 2022 first-round pick of the Blue Jackets, just finished his WHL season with the Warriors where he led them all the way to the Memorial Cup semifinals.

A product of Winnipeg, Man., Mateychuk had an impressive season from the blueline that saw him collect 17 goals and 58 assists for 75 points in 52 regular season games as well as 30 points in 20 playoff games.

A smooth-skating, two-way defender, Mateychuk was one of the best players throughout the CHL playoffs thanks to his ability to create with the puck on his stick.

As the Monsters look to get themselves out of a 2-0 series hole against the Hershey Bears, Mateychuk could be a difference maker if he gets into the lineup.
