The Dallas Stars have recalled defenseman Alex Petrovic from the Texas Stars, it was announced Saturday.

In his fourth season with the Stars organization, Petrovic has appeared at both the NHL and AHL levels this year. Across three games with Dallas, he has gone pointless but has five goals and 25 points in 58 games with Texas.

A product of Edmonton, Alta., and a 2010 second round pick of the Florida Panthers, Petrovic has appeared in 267 career NHL regular season games with the Panthers, Stars and the Edmonton Oilers. Over that time, he has put up five goals and 45 assists for 50 points.

Signed through next season, Petrovic has solidified himself as a solid depth piece in the Stars organization. With his NHL experience, he can be relied upon to play his role in case of injury while also serving as a leader for younger Stars prospects as they learn the rigours of the pro game.
