The Detroit Red Wings have assigned defenseman Brogan Rafferty to the Grand Rapids Griffins, it was announced Saturday.

Rafferty, who is in his second season with the Red Wings organization, has spent all of 2024-25 with the Griffins, putting up six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 50 games.

Since turning pro at the end of the 2018-19 season, Rafferty has appeared in three NHL games, all with the Vancouver Canucks where he collected an assist. Over stints with the Griffins, Utica Comets, San Diego Gulls and the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Rafferty has accumulated 168 points in 306 career regular season games.

Although Rafferty did not get into a game with the Red Wings, his recall means that they clearly see him as a viable option if needed. With the Calder Cup playoffs approaching, the Griffins will look to Rafferty as a go-to player and he will certainly be an attractive free agent target for NHL teams if he does not get a new deal from the Red Wings.
