The Florida Panthers have loaned goaltender Chris Driedger to the Charlotte Checkers, it was announced Friday.
Driedger, who re-joined the Panthers organization this offseason, has appeared in eight games for Charlotte, putting up a record of 5-2-2 to go along with a 3.22 GAA and a .885 SP.
Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Driedger has played for the Sens, the Panthers and the Seattle Kraken throughout his NHL career. Over 67 regular season appearances, Driedger has a 31-24-5 record, a 2.45 GAA and a .917 SP.
Although Driedger's numbers don't pop off the page this year, he has proven to be a reliable goaltender at the NHL level in the past. If the Panthers run into unexpected injuries in the crease, Florida management should be confident in Driedger being able to do the job.
