The Columbus Blue Jackets have hired Scott Ford as an assistant coach, the team announced Thursday.
Ford, a native of Fort St. John, B.C., joins the Blue Jackets after spending the past eight seasons as an assistant coach with the Admirals.
Prior to getting into coaching, Ford enjoyed an 11-year pro career that saw him suit up in the AHL (Cleveland Barons, Providence Bruins, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Milwaukee Admirals & Peoria Rivermen) and the ECHL (Fresno Falcons, Trenton Titans, Dayton Bombers, Utah Grizzlies & South Carolina Stingrays).
As Ford makes the jump to the NHL for the first time, he will have the opportunity to mentor a young group of Blue Jackets players. Ford has done a good job working with young players with the Admirals and should be a good fit to help lead the Blue Jackets back into contention.
