Former Rochester Americans forward Linus Weissbach has signed a two-year deal with Frolunda HC in the SHL, it was announced Saturday.
Weissbach, a product of Goteborg, Sweden, spent this past season with the Rochester Americans. In 55 regular season games, he scored 16 goals and added 17 assists for 33 points. He also saw five playoff games with Rochester, registering a goal.
Drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Weissbach spent three seasons in the Sabres organization. Although he never played an NHL game, Weissbach played in 191 regular season games with the Americans.
With Weissbach heading back to Sweden, the Americans lose a reliable player from their lineup. Capable of making an impact at both ends of the ice, Weissbach should have no problem producing at the SHL level.
